Peace In Uncertainty

Fear thou not: for I am with thee: be not dismayed;

for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee,

yea, I will help thee;

yea, I will uphold thee

with the right hand of my righteousness.

(Isaiah 41:10)

Sometimes it attacks in dark night.  Sometimes a sunlit day.  You may be alone or surrounded by others.  It doesn’t matter.  Deathlike fear squeezes your heart.  What if this happens?  What if that happens?  What if?  What if?  Unbearable images flood your mind.  You’re wide awake in a sickening nightmare you can’t escape.  Out of your mind in fear, your thinking is like a madman’s.  Distorted. Irrational. Crazy.  You can’t  distinguish reality from your fear crazed imagination.  Adulthood flees. Suddenly you’re a five year old child.  The unknown is the frightening big as life monster in your room.  You’ve no place to hide. You’re terrified!

Friend if this describes you, I want you to know that it is not  God’s will for you to suffer from fear such as this.  In our  human flesh it’s natural to feel a certain amount of uneasiness in particular situations.  But terrorizing, crippling, devastating, overwhelming fear is not normal fear.  And its not of God.  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)   So if you are being overcome by your fear you need to recognize the source (your enemy) so that you can know how to free yourself from the snare that has hold of you.  (A snare is anything by which one is entangled, involved in difficulties, impeded, a trap ).If you are beside yourself in fear, you need to know  this is  nothing less than a full blown attack from the devil..  To free yourself from the power of his snare (fear), you need to put on the whole armour of God so that you can stand in the power of God.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.  (Ephesians 6:10:13)

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of  salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.  (Ephesians 6:14:18)

Crazy making fear is poison from the devil’s cup that has somehow filtered into your mind.  There’s only one antidote that can effectively counteract its damaging effects.  The living water from the word of God.  O taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in him. (Psalms 34:8)  How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. (Psalms 119:103:104)

Jesus answered and said unto her, whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:13:14)  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thrist, let him come unto me and drink.  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  (John 7:37:38)

It is so important to drink of this life giving water of truth, hope, help, and comfort.  You see when we are caught up in fear’s grip, we forget so many important truths.  We think so many things that are not only untrue, but things that increase our fear and misery.  The devil through fear has so blinded our minds with lies that we can’t see the truth, or if we do, we overlook it.  To free ourselves from fear’s torment (and the devil’s grasp) it is critical that we separate (distinguish) truth from Satan’s lies.  Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)   We find this freeing truth in the word of God, the sword of the spirit.

The truth is, Satan is a liar.  Satan, OUR ENEMY, would have us believe that we can’t handle whatever we fear may happen.  Satan our enemy, wants us to believe that we are helpless, powerless, and at the mercy of fate, or the world, or our circumstances, and that we just can’t win.

But Jesus, OUR FRIEND says:  And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)  I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me. (Philippians 4;13)  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purposes. (Romans 8:28).  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (Romans 8:37)

While God is truthful and withholds nothing for our good, OUR ENEMY tells us just enough to accomplish his goal.  You can be sure he isn’t telling us everything we need to know.  He has so many ways of being dishonest, and telling half-truths is one of his favorite devices.  What Satan doesn’t tell you is that he (nor you) are in ultimate control of your life and fate.  The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens’, and his kingdom ruleth over all.  (Psalms 103:19)  But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. (Psalms 115:3) The earth is the LORD’S and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. (Psalms 24:1) Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: What house will ye build me? saith the LORD or what is the place of my rest?  Hath not my hand made all these things? (Acts 7:49:50) And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.  (Deuteronomy 31:8)  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything of ourselves, but our sufficiency if of God. (2 Cornithians 3:5)

In dark times of uncertainty when  you feel like you are in great danger, remember Job.  Before Satan could touch Job and affect his life through his family, wealth, and health, Satan had to first receive permission from God because God had a hedge of protection about Job.  And if you are a child of God, God has a hedge of protection around you too.  So when Satan is throwing his fiery darts at you, through fear, or other negative means, remember your hedge and security through Christ’s provision and shield.

Then Satan answered the LORD and said, doth Job fear God for nought?  Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. (Job 1:9:10)  And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth  thine hand.  So Satan went from the presence of the Lord. (Job 1:12).

There may be times in your life when the Lord may let trials and tribulations come.  Sometimes for reasons we can’t know now, God does allow pain and suffering.  Often these things teach us something we can’t learn any other way.  Sometimes it’s to bring us to him, or closer to him, or perhaps work a change in us.  The important thing for you to remember in uncertain times when fear is threatening your sanity and well being, is that God is on the throne.  Only He knows the answer to your nightmarish “what if” questions.  And nothing can happen that he can’t handle or help you handle.  Ah Lord GOD!  Behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.  (Jerimiah 32:17)

To free yourself from the torment of fear and regain control of your life and sanity you have a extremely important decision to make.  Who are you going to believe and trust?  Your answer will determine if you sink or swim when the frightening waves of uncertainty and fear are over your head.  Who is it going to be?  Satan or Christ?  Satan is a destroyer!  Jesus is a Saviour!

 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.  And behold, there arose a great temptest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with waves; but he was asleep.  And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.  And he said unto them, why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?  Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.  But the men marvelled, saying, what manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! (Matthew 8:23:27)  And he said unto them, why are ye so fearful?  how is it that ye have no faith? (Mark 4:40)

Fearful one, do you want God’s help?  If so, you must have faith in Him. Even when its hard to do, especially so then.   So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17). So drink richly fearful one from the living water of God.  Immerse yourself in it through the reading of the word.  It will wash away Satan’s poison from your mind, give, and increase your faith.  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)  Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. (Hebrews 10:38)  While unbelief hurts the heart of God, faith in Him touches His tender heart and unleashes his power to bless the one who has put their faith in Him.  And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.  (Psalms 9:10).  O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.  (Psalms 84:12)  Trust in him at all times ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. (Psalms 62.8)

Fearful one, which is going to be?  Are you going to walk in faith, free, strong and victorious? Or crawl in fear’s  bondage, weak, defeated, and miserable?  This is a decision that only you can make.  But I can give testimony that my God is a solid rock on which  you can stand and depend upon.  I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.  He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God.  Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.  Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. (Psalms 40:1:4)  Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song: he also is become my salvation. (Isaiah 10:2).  The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. (Nahum 1:7).

Faith in God (even the size of a small mustard seed) will defeat mountain size fear.  Faith commands the Devil’s spirit of fear with its “what if” questions to flee.  Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)  Be careful for nothing; but in everyting by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6:7)  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor the arrow that flieth by day. (Psalms 91:4:5). Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised.  (Hebrews 10:23).

Satan, YOUR ENEMY says, You can’t make it, you can’t do it, you’re going down, you’re in serious trouble, there’s no hope, no solution, you’re a loser, its all over.

Jesus YOUR FRIEND says, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.  In the world  ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

They that trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot removed, but abideth forever. (Psalms 125:1) Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God. (Psalms 146:5)

 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled; neither let it be afraid.  (John 14:27)  When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (Isaiah 43:2).  When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid; yea, thou shall lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. (Proverbs 3:24)

Fearful one, you are safe in Christ.  His love and promises are the way you can have peace in uncertainty.

May you rest in them today and in all of your tomorrows…….
